WHO WE ARE
Ignite NYC is a volunteer organization dedicated to:

  • identifying and introducing the city’s most creative, enterprising and up & coming personalities
  • in an “intellectual house-party” setting
  • to share big ideas and challenge the status quo.

Our quarterly events are put on for the community, by the community, to make the most interesting perspectives in technology, art and design accessible to everyone.

WHAT WE DO
With 5 minutes and 20 slides rotating automatically in front of NYC’s most innovative and influential professionals, what would you say? Ignite NYC cultivates a vibrant community of artists, technologists, entrepreneurs, and big thinkers to connect, share ideas, start new projects, and step up to this challenge: Enlighten us, but make it quick!  The talks are sometimes funny, sometimes brilliant, and always thought provoking!

WHERE WE COME FROM
Ignite NYC is part of an international Ignite community which includes Ignites in Portland, Boston, Montreal, Sydney, Munich, Paris, Bucharest, London, and dozens more. The Ignite format was founded by Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis in Seattle in 2006 with the support of O’Reilly Media.

Ignite NYC has been directed since 2008 by Tikva Morowati to cultivate and celebrate the diversity of the NYC technology community. Past speakers include Dennis Crowley, Cindy Gallop, Kevin Slavin, Esther Dyson, Anil Dash, Hilary Mason, Jay Rosen, Limor Fried, Baratunde Thurston, Shira Lazar, Caroline McCarthy, Perry Chen, Jeremie Miller, Zach Liberman, Stowe Boyd, and many more. Ignite speakers have gone on to launch successful businesses, win awards and recognition in their fields, meet professional collaborators, speak at other events including TED, and in general make the world a more awesome place!

HOW YOU CAN BE A PART OF IT
We’re a not-for-profit event consisting entirely of unpaid volunteers. We invest many hours every week to plan and implement events designed to enlighten, educate, and entertain the New York technology, artistic, and business communities and have a wide range of costs. We’re looking for organizations of all sizes to sponsor upcoming Ignite NYC events.

Benefits of sponsorship include:

  • Exposure to the city’s most influential techies, creatives, investors and word-of-mouth advocates
  • On-site event branding opportunities
  • Promotion via Ignite NYC’s Twitter feed @IgniteNYCFacebook Fan Page, website + newsletter
  • Street cred with one of New York’s most innovative (and illusive) communities.

We curate our sponsors as we curate our speakers.  To learn more and discuss further opportunities, please contact: meghan@ignitenyc.org
